Job summary

Mecklenburg County is seeking a MCSO Peer Support Coordinator to lead meetings of the MCSO Peer Support Team, advise on the selection and removal of team members, and prepare annual statistical reports on program use for senior leadership.

The role serves as a liaison between the MCSO Peer Support Team and other departments and peer support organizations, and it involves policy development, training creation, and strengthening communication across the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Safety or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop recommendations for policies based on MCSO’s Peer Support services model.
• Build and maintain communication and connection between the peer support manager, team members, peers, officers, and staff.
• Open communication between roles needs to be communicated with all participants in peer support program.
• Maintain a process to respond to a peer support request in a timely and efficient manner, keeping in mind the personal preferences of the individual making the request.
• Maintain peer support management system to track interactions and results data.
• Utilize access to HR systems to manage proactive connections and provide reporting and anonymous tracking that is based on the Peer Support Team needs.
• Develop training that would benefit the organization as it relates to peer support and possible retention efforts.
• Develop coaching program that supports the peer support goals.
• Maintain the peer support email.
• Coordinate the appropriate MCSO Peer Support Team response following critical incidents or traumatic events or as directed to do so by the Sheriff, Chief Deputy, Chief of Detention, or Peer Support Manager.

Education
