Job summary

City of San Antonio Public Safety seeks a supervisor to oversee a division within the Police Department. Under general direction, you will supervise staff, ensure compliance with policy and laws, and support efficient service delivery at Public Safety Headquarters in San Antonio.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, has three years of progressive public administration experience, and can pass CJIS fingerprint checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in public administration or a related field.
• Applicants must pass a CJIS fingerprint-based background check and CJIS eligibility.
• Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Directs, trains, and supervises staff assigned to a division or operation within the Police Department.
• Ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
• Conducts on-the-job training, performs performance appraisals, and approves requests for leave and overtime.
• Collects and reports data relating to division activities to ensure productivity standards are met.
• Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, and informs staff of department policies and procedures.
• Monitors division goals and objectives, production and work schedules, and delegates assignments.
• Assists in overall assigned duties and provides expertise and guidance to staff.
• Prepares written reports, summaries, and presentations for assigned operations.
• Interviews, selects, supervises, develops, counsels, and, if necessary, disciplines personnel per CoSA policies.
• Performs related duties as required.
