Job summary

The City of San Marcos seeks a Fleet Technician to service emergency response vehicles and equipment, diagnosing and maintaining complex systems while collaborating with Fire and Sheriff departments. Candidates must bring a toolbox and be prepared for after-hours response.

You will work on apparatus, diesel and gasoline engines, and related systems, with opportunities for ASE stipends and ongoing training and career development.

Qualifications

• Experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles and heavy/light equipment.
• Ability to perform after-hours emergency response as required.
• Must provide own toolbox and hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor work sites and ensure safe practices.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment and vehicles.
• Perform cleaning, procurement, organization, and welding/fabrication as needed.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of the on-call program.
• Maintain and service firefighting apparatus and emergency vehicles.
