Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a Fleet Services Emergency Technician to perform routine safety inspections, servicing, and maintenance on the Fire fleet, including diesel and gasoline emergency apparatus. Duties include diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems, fabricating parts as needed, and providing mobile field support.

You will work on heavy and light equipment, ensuring NFPA standards compliance and proactive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Three years of diesel, automotive and alternative technology maintenance experience with drivability diagnostics.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, safety inspections and preventative maintenance on emergency apparatus and safety equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, ignition systems, alternators, relays, switches and high/low voltage lighting.
• Diagnose and repair drive trains, transmissions, hydraulic systems and air braking systems.
• Provide mobile repairs and on-site assistance to field crews as needed.
