Job summary

The City of San Marcos is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician to repair and maintain a wide range of vehicles and heavy equipment, including emergency response vehicles. The ideal candidate will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, use electronic diagnostic tools, and perform after-hours emergency repairs while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities include inspection, maintenance, parts procurement, and collaboration with Fire and Sheriff's Departments.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting and repairing a variety of City vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel and gasoline engines.
• Experience with emergency response vehicles and firefighting equipment.
• Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment for City departments.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and on-call needs.
• Diagnose and repair engines, electrical, hydraulic, and ancillary systems.
• Read schematics and manuals to stay current with technologies.
