Job summary

City of High Point seeks Public Safety Telecommunicators to coordinate responses for Fire and Law Enforcement, utilizing CAD and radio systems to ensure rapid and accurate support around the clock. You will work in teams under a Telecommunications Supervisor on 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute.
• Must have or obtain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License upon employment.
• Must be able to obtain NCIC and FBI NCIC access certifications.
• Background and medical screenings including polygraph are required.

Responsibilities

• Receives voice, text, and video communications concerning public safety and coordinates an appropriate response.
• Uses digital radio and CAD systems to coordinate emergency responses and document actions.
• Communicates with panicked individuals to obtain vital information for effective responses.
• Monitors public safety information networks and coordinates resources with multiple agencies.
• Works in teams under supervision to ensure 24/7 coverage and readiness.

Typing 30 wpm

NC Driver's License

Background check clearance
