Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University seeks a Communications Dispatcher to monitor emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch police, fire, and EMS to incidents on campus and affiliated facilities. You will operate security systems, coordinate with public safety teams, and contribute to situational awareness in a high-stress SOC environment.

The role requires knowledge of security technologies, NIMS basics within a year, and APCO/dispatch training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of security, emergency management and communications tech used in SOC.
• National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) basics within 1 year.
• APCO dispatch training certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Monitor incoming emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch responders.
• Operate CCTV, access control and alarm systems across platforms.
• Coordinate with police, fire, and emergency personnel during incidents.
• Document calls in CAD and maintain operational records.
• Support crisis communications and incident debriefs.
