Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Pennsylvania State Police seeks a Police Communications Operator to support critical public safety by coordinating calls and assisting Troopers in urgent moments. You will help connect citizens and first responders, relay essential details, and contribute to effective law enforcement responses.

This role handles emergency call intake, incident dispatch, record management, and public assistance with rotating shifts and no telework option.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience using two-way radio, multi-line telephone, or computer aided dispatch systems.
• Two years of experience using computer systems for entering, updating, and retrieving information.
• 60 college credits or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Call Handling: Receive and assess calls to determine response needs.
• Incident Dispatching: Relay information to Troopers and coordinate with police, fire, EMS, and support agencies.
• Record Management: Maintain electronic incident data and research information in state systems.
• Public Assistance: Respond to information requests from citizens and visitors.
• Training Participation: Attend instruction and assist in training new operators.
