Job summary

The City of Benicia is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to handle 911 calls, dispatch Police and Fire units, and manage records in a fast-paced Communications Center. This role requires strong typing, calm decision-making, and familiarity with PIN, CLETS, and CAD/RMS systems.

Lateral and POST-exam eligibility are noted in the posting. Applicants must meet typing requirements and may receive additional compensation through various pay additions and uniform allowances.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of POST Basic Dispatcher Course or enrollment preferred.
• POST Dispatcher Intermediate Certificate preferred for II level.

Responsibilities

• Receive 911 and routine calls and dispatch Police and Fire units.
• Monitor radio traffic and coordinate responses.
• Operate PIN/CLETS/CAD/RMS systems for data entry and tracking.
• Process and file reports and related documents.
• Assist public in person and over the phone at the front counter.
• Maintain equipment and support training of colleagues.
