Qualifications

• Must complete computer-based exam with a score of 80% and typing speed of 30 WPM.
• Completion of Richardson PD training program with proficiency in 911/Call Take, Fire/EMS, Records & Information, Police dispatch.
• Entry-level applicants should have 2+ years customer service experience or a degree; equivalent training may be considered.
• Lateral-entry candidates require 2+ years 911 dispatcher experience; CPR/EMD/Texas license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer 911 lines and multi-line telephones.
• Communicate clearly in English and operate specialized software for hearing/speech-impaired citizens.
• Operate multi-channel public safety radio and CAD systems; assign units.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain records.
• Provide pre-arrival EMS instructions per IAED protocols.
