Job summary

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is seeking a motivated Police Communications Operator to support vital public safety work at Troop A, Greensburg. Qualifications

• Two years of experience using two-way radio, multi-line telephone, or CAD systems.
• Two years of experience using computer systems for entering, updating, and retrieving information.
• Completion of 60 college credits.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls from the public and 911 operators, gather details, determine response needs, and prioritize incidents.
• Dispatch Troopers, relay incident information, and coordinate with police, fire, ambulance, towing, and PennDOT.
• Use various computer programs to research, access, and maintain records, and update electronic incident systems.
• Share updates with Troopers and other operators, monitor Trooper locations, and interpret maps.
• Respond to administrative inquiries, greet station visitors, and provide information or arrange Trooper assistance.
• Attend communications training and assist in training new operators on procedures, policies, and practices.
