Job summary

NYCEDC seeks a Superintendent to supervise the Operations and Maintenance of City-owned public markets within its Asset Management portfolio, including Essex Market, Moore Street Market, La Marqueta, and Arthur Avenue Market. This full-time, on-site role requires 24/7 on-call availability and weekend/holiday coverage at Essex Market.

Reporting to the AVP, Operations Public Markets, you will lead maintenance staff, coordinate with contractors, ensure safety and compliance, manage work orders, and

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
10+ years in maintenance of commercial properties or facilities.
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety systems.

Responsibilities

Oversee O&M of NYCEDC public markets; Essex Market, Moore Street Market, La Marqueta, Arthur Avenue Market.
Supervise maintenance staff and contracted personnel; schedule work and ensure safety compliance.
Coordinate with property management and contractors for repairs; escort contractors when needed.
Participate in staff training, coaching, and succession planning.
Ensure inspections are logged and work orders tracked; monitor progress and quality.
