Job summary

New York City Economic Development Corporation seeks a Lead Mechanic to provide hands-on field support and maintenance oversight for Public Markets. The role ensures safe, clean, and operational market facilities, coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

Responsibilities include supervising contractors, managing cleaning and repairs, and supporting event setups, with flexible hours including nights and weekends. Reports to the AVP, Public Markets Operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; OSHA cert preferred/obtainable within 90 days.
• Experience maintaining commercial/residential properties and coordinating vendors.
• Strong communication and ability to work with diverse teams and management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise contracted vendors (janitorial, maintenance, security, pest control).
• Oversee on-site staff; ensure cleaning, repairs, and safety standards are met.
• Coordinate special market setups and event prep with field staff.
• Respond to facility emergencies and weather-related events, including after-hours.
• Conduct site inspections and manage cleaning supplies inventory.
