Job summary

City of Irvine is seeking Part-time Library Assistant I to support public library services in Irvine’s new system. The role includes assisting customers with services and technology, helping with collections, programs, and policy interpretation.

The position requires evening and weekend shifts, with training in CPR/First Aid and a California driver’s license. Candidates with library-related coursework or experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• College coursework in library services or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist library customers in using library services and technology; provide basic information and research help.
• Assist with collection maintenance as directed.
• Assist with implementing general library programming and other library activities.
• Interpret and apply library policies and procedures for customers.
• Participate in community and outreach events as directed.
