Job summary

The City of Irvine seeks collaborative and innovative individuals for a Part-time Library Associate I role. Under supervision, you will perform clerical, technical, and customer service tasks in support of Irvine's new public library system.

Shifts include evenings, mornings, and weekends. Experience assisting library customers with services and technology is valued. This is a part-time position with city benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with clerical and/or customer service experience.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
• Ability to possess or obtain a First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist library customers in the use of library services and technology; perform lending services such as checking in/out materials, and registering new patron accounts.
• Handle money for fees or other purposes.
• Assist with interpreting library policies and procedures for customers; maintain confidentiality of customer records.
• Respond to customers regarding general and routine directional inquiries and refer customers to appropriate resources and staff.
• Assist with collection maintenance as directed.
• As directed, assist with the supervision of facility rentals and enforce rules applicable to that reservation.
