Job summary

Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public History focusing on community-engaged work in post-1945 U.S. history. The successful candidate will teach upper-level undergraduates and graduate students and contribute to Auburn's U.S.

history curriculum with in-person instruction. Review begins October 23, 2026 and will continue until a suitable candidate is selected. ABD candidates considered with completion expected before start date of August 16, 2027.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in History or related field required; ABD candidates considered with completion expected before start.
• Ability to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public history.
• Ability to engage with community partners in post-1945 U.S. history.

Responsibilities

• Develop upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in public history.
• Contribute to Auburn's core U.S. history curriculum with in-person instruction.
• Occasionally contribute to the general upper-level curriculum.
