Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health seeks a PH Registered Nurse 2 to assess clients, develop and implement care plans, and administer nursing care in a district setting. Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing and one year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.
• Alternatively, one year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients' health problems and needs and develop nursing care plans.
• Administer nursing care and medications to clients.
• Provide health maintenance guidance and disease prevention information.
• Maintain and update patient medical records and documentation.
• Collaborate with health care team to evaluate and adjust care plans.

Assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to Health Department clients. May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Nurse will provide Public Health services to clients on a daily basis. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.

All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Examples of duties

• 1. Provides comprehensive assessment of client's health care needs
• 2. Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines, and preventative/maintenance care to clients and families
• 3. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care plans
• 4. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records
• 5. Modifies client treatment plans as indicated by clients responses and conditions
• 6. Monitors all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity
• 7. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in clients conditions
• 8. Prepares clients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments
• 9. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained
• 10. Provides education to clients, families, and community service providers
• 11. Provides health care, first aid, and immunizations
• 12. Provides school related health care services.

Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lowerlevel PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: BSN; Previous Public Health experience strongly preferred.

Applicants hired for the position with an ASN degree will be required to successfully complete an approved School of Nursing BSN Level Health Assessment Course if they have not previously done so.
