Job summary

Coastal Health District is seeking a dedicated nurse to assess and address client health needs, administer care, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team in a public health setting.

The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing, one year of nursing experience, and a current Georgia RN license with CPR certification. BSN is preferred, and ASN holders should complete a BSN-level Health Assessment course if not already completed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing and one year of nursing experience with completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, and current Georgia RN license and CPR certification.
• BSN; Public Health experience strongly preferred.
• ASN degree holders must complete BSN level Health Assessment Course if not already completed.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive assessment of client health care needs.
• Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines, and preventive/maintenance care.
• Consults and coordinates with health care team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans.
• Maintains accurate client records and reports.
• Modifies treatment plans as indicated by patient responses.
• Monitors all aspects of client care including diet and activity.
• Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in conditions.
• Assists with examinations and treatments.
• Prepares rooms and supplies and ensures stock.
• Provides education to clients, families, and community providers.

Assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to Health Department clients. May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Nurse will provide Public Health services to clients on a daily basis. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.

All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

8. Prepares clients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments
9. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained
10. Provides education to clients, families, and community service providers
11. Provides health care, first aid, and immunizations
12. Provides school related health care services

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lowerlevel PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

BSN; Previous Public Health experience strongly preferred.

Applicants hired for the position with an ASN degree will be required to successfully complete an approved School of Nursing BSN Level Health Assessment Course if they have not previously done so.
