Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the Coastal Health District. The role involves assisting with schedules, vaccines, and patient care in a General Clinic setting. It requires an LPN license in Georgia and CPR certification, plus orientation for Public Health LPN.

Starting salary is $32,170 with eligibility for full-time or part-time up to 29 hours/week; emergency staffing may be required. Benefits are provided for eligible employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Public Health Nurses and county programs under supervision.
  • Schedule colposcopy/LEEP appointments and mail results/education materials.
  • Administer vaccines and prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Prepare rooms and maintain sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Order supplies and document client records.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community service providers.
  • Deliver health care and first aid and coordinate with care teams.
  • Assist with billing tasks and Medicaid applications for women's health.
  • Participate in community events as needed.

Position can be full time or part-time. Part time position is up to 29 hours per week, no benefits. Part-time hourly rate-$20/hour.

All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Under direct supervision, aids Public Health Nurses and county programs. Works in our General Clinic department. This role is responsible for the following: 1) assisting with scheduling colposcopy/LEEP appointments, 2) mailing results and education material, 3) administering vaccines, 4) preparing clients for, and assisting with, examinations and treatments, 5) preparing rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures, 6) ordering supplies, 7) providing education to clients, families, and community service providers, 8) delivering health care and first aid, 9) consulting and coordinating with health care team members, 10) maintaining accurate, detailed client records, 11) assisting with billing tasks, submitting women’s health Medicaid applications, 12) participating in community events on occasion, 13) performing clinical tasks such as obtaining vitals, performing pregnancy tests, and collecting blood or other specimens, and lastly executed other clinical and clerical tasks as assigne

PH LPN 1-Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college and current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse and CPR certification and completion of all necessary orientation and training for Public Health LPN. Starting Salary-$32,170
