Job summary

DuPage County Health Department is looking for a Customer Service Representative at the Central Public Health Center in Wheaton. You will provide front desk service to clients, collect intake information, and route requests to the appropriate staff.

The role requires bilingual abilities, potential travel to other centers, and shifts including evenings. The position offers a full benefit package and pension eligibility.

Qualifications

• Some experience in human/social services plus customer service experience.
• Bilingual applicants strongly preferred.
• Some designated positions may require bilingual Spanish; Spanish test may be required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Attend paid on-site HR orientation at Central Public Health Center in Wheaton.

Responsibilities

• Provides general and specific information regarding department policies, procedures and programs to the public.
• Performs related work as required based on program needs.
• Conducts pre-screening; directs individuals to proper location, resource or staff.
• Checks in customers; schedules follow-up appointments; processes payments (cash, check, credit).
• Notifies staff when clients arrive; updates electronic charts and files.
• Answers phones; resolves complaints per policies and procedures.
• Screens for program eligibility; gathers demographics for intake.
• Manages call distribution; provides information or referrals as needed.
• Compiles data on calls; schedules appointments; handles TDD calls; uses PC.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to privacy laws; punctuality and attendance.
