Florida Department of Health, Office of the General Counsel, is seeking an OPS Attorney to join the Transactions Practice Group in Tallahassee. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and advising on contracts, memoranda of understanding, leases, and grant awards, with procurement and bid protest responsibilities.

The position is grant-funded through 11/30/2027 and requires Florida Bar membership, ABA JD, and willingness to work flexible hours including emergencies. Office located in Tallahassee.

Qualifications

• Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
• Willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Must be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, or advising on written agreements such as contracts, memoranda of understanding, provider agreements, leases, or grant awards.

Responsibilities

• Development and administration of competitive and non-competitive procurements of property, buildings, commodities and services;
• Representation of the Department in bid protests before the Division of Administrative Hearings and appellate courts;
• Proposed contracts and existing contracts that embody the exchange of promises between the Department and non-Department entities including leases, purchase orders, formal contracts, memoranda of understanding or agreement;
• The sale of commodities and services by the Department; and
• Amendments, renewals and terminations of existing agreements as identified above.
