Job summary

NYC Health Department is seeking a Call Agent to join the Office of External Affairs. You will handle inbound calls and chats, guide customers through vital records processes, and provide health information and referrals to the public.

You will support data accuracy, manage inquiries, and assist staff with navigation of the NYC DOHMH website. This role offers potential hybrid work options and public service benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or related duties.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Handle calls and chats from multiple NYC DOHMH workgroups.
• Assist public with ordering/correcting vital records such as birth/death certificates.
• Guide customers on status of orders via the E-vital status portal or email.
• Provide health education information and referrals.
• Maintain and update databases and analyze data for accuracy.
• Handle emergencies and other ad hoc assignments.
• Support staff with website navigation issues.
