Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an OEI Research Assistant to answer the main complaint line, relay messages to appropriate staff, and perform complex research and clerical tasks under supervision.

This role supports the Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention by handling data entry, verifying data, preparing weekly reports, and maintaining digital archives, with opportunities to learn and grow in a public health setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ months research experience including data gathering.
• Associate degree with 2.5+ years of research experience involving data collection.
• High school diploma with 4.5+ years of research experience.
• Equivalency options combining education and experience as specified.

Responsibilities

• Data entry
• Review and verify previously entered data for accuracy, validity, and adherence to protocols
• Answer OEI’s main line and relay messages to relevant personnel
• Serve as liaison between clients and office/field staff on complaints
• Prepare written reports on weekly field activities
• Maintain accurate digital archiving of all forms and reports
• Assist with mail delivery/pick-up from building’s central mailroom
• Other duties as assigned
