Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) is seeking a Public Health Adviser to support STI clinic operations across eight clinics. The role includes clerical intake, EMR documentation, specimen handling, patient recall, and phlebotomy as needed, contributing to the city’s sexual health initiatives.

Candidates must meet civil service qualifications and may work in a hybrid arrangement with benefits and strong job security in a large public health organization.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree with health education, health sciences credits, or related fields.
• A four-year high school diploma plus four years in health promo/prevention work.
• Education/experience equivalent to the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Register clients and document intake in the EMR.
• Prepare exam rooms for vaccine administration.
• Process specimens for STI/Monkey Pox testing and route appropriately.
• Recall patients with reactive results via text, phone, and email.
• Recall patients for missed appointments and reschedule as needed.
• Collect fingerstick specimens and phlebotomy as needed.
