Job summary

Escambia County is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee repair, renovation, and construction of County facilities in Pensacola, FL. You will provide leadership across design and construction, review documents for regulatory compliance, manage contracts, control schedules and costs, and supervise staff and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required with six years of progressive construction experience, including at least three years in supervisory/project management capacity.
• Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence.
• Knowledge of construction management, contract administration, and cost estimating practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision to assigned staff, including prioritization and delegation, performance management, and professional development.
• Administers all aspects of construction contracts by reviewing payment applications, monitoring progress, managing change orders, and certifying completion.
• Coordinates pre-bid activities, bid openings, and pre-construction meetings.
• Conducts on-site inspections to ensure conformance with plans, specs, codes, and safety requirements.
• Manages design consultant contracts, including procurement, fee negotiation, task assignments, and invoice review.
• Performs cost management, budgeting, and financial tracking for projects.
• Negotiates claims, amendments, and change orders to ensure fiscally responsible outcomes for the County.
