Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) in Baker City seeks a Public Benefits Specialist - Entry to assist neighbors in person at the local office. You will help navigate the Oregon Eligibility Partnership programs and provide compassionate, trauma-informed service to applicants.

This permanent, full-time role emphasizes front-line customer service, strong data handling, and the ability to work in a rural Eastern Oregon setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in reception or call center with high volume data handling.
• An associate degree in Behavioral/Social Science and six months in a busy reception or call center.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact in field offices for Oregonians and provide a welcoming environment.
• Support office infrastructure and day-to-day operations.
• Assist with online Oregon Eligibility system in person, by phone or email.
• Assist Oregonians with a trauma-informed lens.
• Provide support for business functions within the office.
• May handle financial duties including tracking and accounting.
