Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Public Benefits Specialist (Eligibility Worker) in the Gresham area. The role supports Oregonians by interviewing households, determining eligibility, and connecting people with benefits.

Bilingual Russian or Spanish is preferred, with a 5% bilingual differential for certified candidates. Work involves in-person service at the Gresham office, trauma-informed engagement, and collaboration with community partners.

Qualifications

• One year of experience at the Human Services Specialist 1 level or two years of public-facing experience.
• Associate degree plus six months of public service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience relative to the class concept.

Responsibilities

• Determine program eligibility by interviewing households, reviewing information, and using forms or systems.
• Provide triage, information, and referrals in collaboration with agencies and partners.
• Explain rights and responsibilities during applications, renewals and changes, and process data timely to deliver benefits.
