Job summary

Durham County Government is seeking qualified Income Maintenance workers to process applications, complete redeterminations, and manage changes across Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid, and Work First programs.

You will perform in-depth assessments, verify information, explain program options, and reference policy guidance while meeting federal and state performance standards. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of program policies and eligibility basics.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and data analysis abilities.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients and public officials.
• Ability to supervise and train lower level staff as needed.
• Ability to manage casework within structured time frames.
• Bilingual skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take applications and complete redeterminations for Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid, Work First, or Child Care Subsidy programs.
• Conduct in-depth assessments and gather necessary information.
• Verify information to determine client eligibility and refer to appropriate programs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program policies and performance measures.
• Build positive relationships with community stakeholders and adhere to timelines.
