Job summary

The Metropolitan at The 9 in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Public Area Attendant to help keep our lobby, corridors, restrooms, and common spaces clean and guest-ready.

You’ll work with the housekeeping team to maintain high standards, follow safety guidelines, and respond quickly to cleaning requests. Prior hospitality experience is a plus, but training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous cleaning, housekeeping, or hospitality experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain hotel public areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors throughout the property.
• Empty trash and maintain cleanliness of guest-facing spaces.
• Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning requests.
• Report maintenance concerns and assist with deep cleaning projects.

What You'll Do

As a Public Area Attendant, you'll help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of our hotel's public spaces while ensuring a safe and inviting environment for guests and team members.

Responsibilities include:

• Clean and maintain hotel lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other public areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors throughout the property.
• Clean and sanitize public restrooms, restock supplies, and ensure they remain guest-ready throughout the day.
• Clean windows and glass surfaces as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning requests.
• Vacuum elevator tracks and maintain elevator cleanliness.
• Report maintenance concerns such as burned-out light bulbs, damaged furniture, or broken fixtures.
• Perform deep cleaning projects as assigned.
• Complete daily cleaning checklists before the end of each shift.
• Support the housekeeping team with additional duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

This is an active position that requires:

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting.
• Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
• Working with cleaning chemicals and equipment while following all safety guidelines.
