Job summary
Shrub Oak International School (SOIS) is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to work on-site with autistic students in a therapeutic school setting. The PTA will support mobility, strength, balance, and functional skills under a licensed Physical Therapist.
Required is an active NY PTA license and at least 2 years of PTA experience, preferably with ASD and educational settings. The role includes documentation, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to safety
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited PTA program is required.
- Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of PTA experience.
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders and educational/therapeutic settings preferred.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans under supervision.
- Assist students with transfers, ambulation, positioning, gait training and mobility needs.
- Document progress and observations accurately.
- Collaborate with teachers, clinicians and residential staff to support student goals.
- Maintain clean, safe therapy spaces and comply with safety protocols.
