Job summary

Gersh Autism in Long Island City, NY is seeking a Physical Therapist to join our school-based team. You will develop IEPs, implement targeted therapies to build strength and balance, and create a safe therapeutic environment for students.

Collaboration with families and staff is essential to provide comprehensive, integrated services. The role requires a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, NY licensure, and at least 2 years of relevant experience with individuals on the autism spectrum.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Comfort with technology and computer-based documentation systems.
• Strong knowledge of Sensory Processing and regulatory support (CPI).

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs for each student and collaborate with educators to implement them.
• Apply specialized PT techniques to improve strength and balance.
• Maintain a safe, positive therapeutic environment for students.
• Collaborate with families to ensure continuity of care and communication.
• Work with Gersh Autism staff to provide integrated services.
• Regularly evaluate and adjust treatment plans based on progress and feedback.
• Stay current with PT research related to autism spectrum disorders.
