Job description

The Coast Community College District (CCCD) is a multi‑college district in Southern California that includes Coastline, Golden West and Orange Coast Colleges. CCCD offers over 300 degree and certificate programs and serves more than 60,000 students annually.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
  • Keep current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online or off‑campus classes.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Meet one of the following qualifications:
    1. Valid California Community College instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, issued prior to July 1 1990.
    2. Master's degree from an accredited institution in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
    3. Bachelor's degree in the above fields AND a Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
    4. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. An Application for Equivalency must be submitted for equivalency based positions.
  2. Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a diverse classroom environment and effectively instruct students from a variety of backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience.
  • Expertise and professional experience in the field of the courses to be taught.
Conditions of Employment

Employment is part‑time and temporary, contingent upon background verification, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Hours and effective dates will be arranged with the supervisor. The position is filled on an as‑needed basis and remains open for one year after application.

Compensation is based on Lecture Hour Equivalent in accordance with the current Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
