Job summary

County of Lancaster is seeking a trainee for the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator track. You will learn to operate the phone, radio, and computer systems while following approved protocols and dispatching incidents as part of a fast-paced public safety team.

The role requires a high school diploma, the ability to obtain essential certifications, and the flexibility to work outside standard hours. Training is provided as you advance to a higher position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain CLEAN, CPR, JNET, PEMA protocols, NCMEC, FEMA, IS-100 and 700, and Basic Telecommunicator.
• Pass a 25 wpm typing test.
• Must consent to and pass a drug screen.
• May require working outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer systems, telephone systems, and radio equipment in a fast-paced environment.
• Navigate PEMA protocols and dispatch incidents promptly.
• Process requests for service and information quickly.
• Enter caller and radio information into the CAD system accurately.
• Queue calls to the appropriate 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.
