Job summary

Lancaster County is seeking a trainee for the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator role. The position focuses on learning to operate the computer, telephone, and radio systems, and progressing toward the Telecommunicator II role.

Responsibilities include accurately entering caller information into CAD, dispatching incidents, and following PEMA-approved protocols. Must complete a 25-wpm typing test and pass a drug screen to qualify.

Qualifications

• Must pass a 25-wpm typing test.
• Must consent to drug screening.
• Must obtain CLEAN, CPR, JNET, PEMA Approved Protocols, NCMEC, FEMA, IS-100 and IS-700 certifications.
• Ability to learn operation of PSAP equipment and entry of data into CAD.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer, telephone, and radio systems in a fast-paced environment.
• Process caller information and dispatch incidents per protocols.
• Enter data accurately into the CAD system and queue calls to the appropriate 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.
• Receive and transmit messages with public safety agencies via radio, phone, and computer.
