Job summary

City of Paducah seeks a Telecommunicator to answer 9-1-1 lines, dispatch police, fire, and EMS units, and relay critical information. The role requires excellent communication, rapid decision-making, and the ability to work shifts including evenings and weekends.

You will document calls, monitor radios, and assist in coordinating emergency responses. Applicants must have KY DOCJT Telecommunicator certification and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service skills and data entry ability.
• Experience with public contact and basic computer literacy is required.
• KY DOCJT Public Safety Telecommunicator certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and dispatch public safety personnel.
• Assess calls for priority and determine appropriate unit dispatch.
• Communicate clearly with citizens and agencies; log call details accurately.
• Monitor radio frequencies and NCIC/CAD interfaces; relay information as needed.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions and coordinate responding units.
• Participate in ongoing training and certifications.
