Job summary

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker, MD, School of Medicine is hiring a Medical Assistant in the Psychiatry Clinic. The role focuses on patient-centered care, coordinating patient flow, collecting visit information, and assisting with procedures and medication administration.

The successful candidate will support residents and students in program rotations, work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary clinic, and participate in diverse tasks from front desk duties to direct patient care.

Qualifications

• Assists with clinical procedures and patient care.
• Collects patient information for visits and procedures.
• Assists with medication administration under physician direction.
• Communicates effectively with patients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Works with clinic team to maintain staffing levels.
• Schedules and reschedules clinic appointments.
• Administers TMS treatments per physician plans.
• Enters patient demographics and insurance data into the EMR.
• Assists with patient flow, room assignments and triage.
• Performs waived testing (UDS, Forensic Fluids, GeneSight).
• Administers medications as approved.
• Maintains equipment and orders supplies.
• Trains and supports new staff as needed.
• May work occasional overtime on evenings or weekends.
