Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, MI seeks a Medical Assistant to support a fast-paced ambulatory clinic.

You will room patients, assist with provider care, manage clinical tasks, and help coordinate patient flow with a patient-centered approach. The role involves teaching residents and students, with a schedule Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends, and holidays paid.

Qualificações

• Experience in a clinical setting is required for Medical Assistant I.
• Certification (CMA or RMA) is required for Medical Assistant II; leadership/training experience preferred for Medical Assistant III.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced ambulatory clinic with patient-centered care.

Responsabilidades

• Responsible for patient flow and room assignments.
• Obtains age-appropriate vital signs upon admission.
• Collects patient information pertinent to physician visit or procedure.
• Assists physicians and team with treatments and tests.
• Performs competency-based point of care waived testing.
• Administers IM, SubQ, and PO medications as approved.
• Documents patient care and actions per clinic standards.
• Facilitates scheduling for diagnostic workups, procedures, referrals, and appointments.
• Refers abnormal lab work to physicians for appropriate follow up.
• Pends prescription refills.
• Prepares, maintains, and cleans exam rooms.
• Administers immunizations following protocols; completes prior authorizations for medications.
• Performs 12-lead EKGs and places Holter monitors as ordered.
• Maintains equipment; orders supplies as needed.
• Mentors medical students in immunization administration for rotation.
• Discusses day-to-day issues with the team leader for resolution.
• Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings for time-sensitive projects.
