Job summary

Adventist HealthCare’s SGMC Behavioral Health unit seeks an experienced Psychiatric Unit Support Coordinator to support patient care and department operations in a faith‑based health system. The role emphasizes compassionate customer service, careful coordination of services, and adherence to hospital policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities include direct patient support, de‑escalation when needed, and collaboration with care teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service experience required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute Certification required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with internal and external customers in a manner consistent with AHC Values/Standards of Behavior.
• Provides exceptional customer service and uses de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Stays knowledgeable in coordination of services and supports department efficiency.
• Participates in supply chain management and equipment maintenance processes.
• Escorts patients and assists with visitation and transport as needed.
• Rounds on patients at least every 15 minutes and documents per policy.
