Responsibilities

Located at the Lexington Detention Center in Lexington, KY.

The Psych Tech – Forensic Unit provides mental health care and support to individuals involved in the criminal justice system requiring competency restoration for trial. The Psych Tech collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to promote patient well-being and recovery, assists with treatment planning, monitors progress, and facilitates individual and group activities to support a successful behavioral health environment.

The main responsibilities include:

1. Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans with the team.
2. Providing crisis intervention and de-escalation to manage challenging behaviors and ensure safety.
3. Delivering interventions such as individual contacts, psychoeducational programming, and group sessions tailored to patient needs.
4. Offering recreational activities to patients or groups.
5. Documenting services provided and patient participation daily, in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
6. Monitoring patient behavior during activities to prevent outbursts.
7. Implementing behavior management and psychoeducational programs.
8. Engaging with patients through appropriate social interactions and activities.
9. Recording incidents and treatment progress in medical records.
10. Participating in team meetings, reports, and other assigned duties.
11. Following safety protocols with personal protective equipment.
12. Adhering to organizational standards and maintaining professional appearance and relationships.
13. Performing other duties as assigned.
