Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Psychiatric Technician with YesCare:

Located at the Lexington Detention Center in Lexington, KY.

The Psych Tech – Forensic Unit engages in a range of responsibilities related to providing mental health care and support to individuals involved in the criminal justice system who require restoration of their competency to stand trial. The Psych Tech works closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote the well-being and recovery of the patients on the unit. The Psych Tech assists with treatment planning and monitors client progress. They offer a wide range of individual and group activities, assisting in the structure and maintenance of a successful behavioral health unit.

• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed to manage challenging behaviors and ensure the safety of the patients and staff on the Competency/Restoration Unit.
• Assists in the delivery of interventions including individual contacts, psychoeducational programming, and group sessions aimed at addressing the specific needs of the patients.
• Provides recreational activities to individual patients or groups as assigned.
• Completes daily documentation of services provided and patient participation, in compliance with legal, ethical standards, and YesCare policies.
• Monitors patients during scheduled and free time activities to minimize episodes of out-of-control behavior.
• Implements skills workshops and programs in behavior management and other psychoeducational activities.
• Interacts with patients on the Competency/Restoration Unit in a socially appropriate manner, including involvement in activities or games.
• Documents critical incidents and treatment progress in patients’ medical records.
• Participates in the unit’s morning report, monthly staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned by the Program Manager.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Complies with YesCare and facility employee standards, including maintaining a professional appearance, fostering harmonious working relationships, and timely reporting of absences.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
