Summary of Job Duties: This posting will fill multiple positions. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks not requiring a license, supporting the care team in H6 Hospital Medicine Unit, a 30-bed medical/surgical unit providing 24-hour care for various acute and specialty patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED and successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
  • Good communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred:

  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
  • Experience in an acute care setting.

The PCT works under RN supervision, performing tasks that do not require a license, adhering to UAMS standards and policies, and passing required competencies. Responsibilities include patient reporting, assisting with admissions/discharges, transporting patients, following care plans, communicating with team members, documenting care activities, and supporting patients and visitors.

Additional Information:

Applicants are subject to an online reference check before interview consideration. Ensure a valid email is provided for this process. New hires will complete 5 weeks of training post-hire, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Physical Activity Requirements:

  • Constant: Hear, read, think analytically.
  • Frequent: Stand, walk, talk, use hands.
  • Occasional: Sit, bend, crawl, reach, taste, smell.

Physical demands include lifting and pushing weights of 100 lbs. or more, working inside a medical facility with moderate noise, and visual requirements such as near and far acuity, color discrimination, and depth perception. Hazards include biological, chemical, electrical, radiation, sharp objects, and dust.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
