Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Psychiatric Casual Nights, part-time and non-benefited. The role supports nursing staff with basic patient care, vital signs, and daily living activities for behavioral health patients in a high-demand setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one clinical completed is required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit tasks and adapts to changing needs of patients and staff.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff/family/patients.
