Job summary

Prestige Healthcare Resources, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced clinical care within substance use and behavioral health programs in Washington, DC.

The NP will conduct evaluations, diagnose conditions, manage medications, and coordinate ongoing care under approved protocols and with the medical team. The position requires DC NP licensure, Board Certification in FNP or PMHNP, and a minimum of 3 years in behavioral health or substance use disorder settings.

Qualifications

• Current and unencumbered Nurse Practitioner licensure in Washington, D.C.
• Board Certification in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) required.
• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited academic institution.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment settings.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, psychopharmacology, and co-occurring disorders.
• Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Credible, GAINS, LOCUS, or ICAMS) highly preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical and psychiatric assessments to identify medical and behavioral health conditions.
• Diagnose client conditions and collaborate in developing individualized treatment plans that incorporate behavioral, physical, and social determinants of health.
• Prescribe psychotropic and general medications; monitor client progress and manage side effects or treatment adjustments as necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention and participate in safety planning with the interdisciplinary team.
• Review and authorize medication orders in accordance with federal and state law.
• Consult with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate clients and families on medication use, treatment plans, wellness strategies, and health maintenance.
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR system and maintain up-to-date progress notes.
• Participate in case conferences, audits, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain current licensure, certifications, and required continuing education.
