Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Psychiatric Associate to join the Adult Mental Health unit at Station 12, an intensive treatment center delivering 24-hour care for high-acuity patients with co-occurring medical issues.

We are located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis, with day/evening shifts on a two-week cycle, every other weekend, and a variable schedule. The Psych Associate delivers care under RN direction within a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in mental health, healthcare, or school settings (NA, NST, PCA, behavioral tech, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting safety checks and monitoring.
• Conducts room, belongings and unit searches.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Active involvement in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
• Performs basic patient daily living activities per treatment plan.
• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic interactions.
• Conducts education with individuals or groups per treatment plan.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team’s mission and goals.
• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
• Exhibits timely, thorough, and professional communication.
