Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Provider Support Assistant to deliver comprehensive administrative and clinical support to Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency General Surgery faculty and APPs.

You will serve as a primary contact for patients and referrals, coordinate outpatient scheduling, medical records, and Epic workflows to help streamline patient care across Duke Health locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of clerical or related experience.
• Experience supporting physicians or APPs preferred.
• Epic (Maestro Care) scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary administrative contact for assigned physicians and APPs.
• Answers calls and electronic messages, triaging requests per departmental workflows.
• Coordinates referrals and outside medical records for continuity of care.
• Assists patients with appointment questions and follow-up coordination.
• Coordinates scheduling using Epic and clinic templates across Duke Health locations.
• Maintains provider schedules and supports efficient patient flow.
