Job summary

Vertex Optics in Victor, NY is seeking an Optics Technician to fabricate prototype optical components for aerospace, medical, defense, semiconductor, and energy sectors.

You will set up and operate conventional and 5-axis CNC equipment, use CMMs and micrometers, and follow drawings and procedures to meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Technical and mathematical aptitude are required.
• AS or BS in a technical field is helpful.
• Experience with CAM systems (Mastercam) is a plus.
• Familiarity with CMM and micrometers is advantageous.
• Ability to follow engineering drawings and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate prototype optical components to specifications.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment (5-axis) and other optical fabrication tools.
• Prepare tooling for grinding, polishing, or measurement.
• Use measurement devices such as CMM and micrometers.
• Inspect work and maintain documentation.
• Maintain safety and quality standards.
