Job summary

Vertex Optics in Victor, NY is seeking a Senior Optics Technician to fabricate prototype optical components for aerospace, medical, defense, semiconductor, and energy industries. You will set up and operate conventional and CNC fabrication equipment, prepare tooling, and ensure high-quality results within tight tolerances.

The role requires strong technical and mathematical aptitude, Mastercam CAD/CAM experience, and a minimum of 10 years in optical fabrication.

Qualifications

• A.S. or B.S. in a technical field is helpful.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience fabricating optical materials (glass, crystal, ceramic).
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM and Mastercam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality, complex optical components to customers' specifications.
• Set up and operate conventional optical manufacturing equipment and CNC machines (5-axis).
• Prepare tooling for grinding, polishing, or measurement setups.
• Use measurement devices (CMM, interferometer, micrometers).
• Follow engineering drawings and process specifications.
• Maintain accurate notes and documentation.
• Cross train and assist team members.
