Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in Auburn Hills is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Advanced Concepts team to create concepts and prototypes for new products in our Innovation Center. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with materials and process knowledge to develop prototypes and explore dispensing technologies and automation solutions.

You will collaborate with engineering, project management, and technical teams, document results, test and troubleshoot prototypes, and help transition

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, automation, robotics, or a related technical field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Create clean-sheet mechanical concepts from ideas generated by the Innovation Hub team
• Create physical prototypes for concepts using internal and external fabrication resources
• Provide engineering direction to external fabrication resources
• Create and maintain technical and financial documentation for concept projects
• Assemble, test and troubleshoot concept prototypes during initial build
• Assist with the design of experiments to evaluate prototypes
• Author technical test reports for prototypes with recommendations for improvements
• Assist with transition of a project from concept phase to the product team
• Assist the Marketing team with creation of promotional materials for a project
• Stay current on emerging dispensing technologies, materials, automation trends, and industry-best practices
