Job summary

Atlas Copco Houston seeks a Mechanical Designer to drive the mechanical design of components and new products, bridging manufacturing and marketing to meet evolving customer needs.

You will design equipment, produce drawings, P&IDs, BOMs, and support manufacturing through ECOs and changes, while ensuring safety standards and quality across projects.

A bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 2–5 years’ experience and CAD proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably with rotating equipment such as compressors or pumps.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles; knowledge of pressure systems and vessel design is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized equipment and systems to meet customer specs, including calculations and vendor coordination.
• Produce layouts, specifications, and design documentation for new initiatives and existing design modifications.
• Develop P&ID diagrams based on client specs and integrate into BOMs for manufacturing and QA.
• Utilize CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) to draft components and assemblies for manufacturability.
• Manage engineering change processes (ECOs, Design Notifications) to maintain product integrity.
• Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation for cross‑functional teams and audits.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company quality benchmarks.
• Support prototyping, testing, and production line setup to validate designs.
