Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA offers an internship conversion opportunity in the Mechanical Design and Analysis section (xLab). The selected candidate will generate CAD designs with SolidWorks, perform structural analysis using ANSYS, and assist senior engineers in prototyping and testing.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (pursuing or recently conferred), 0–1 year of industry experience, and ability to obtain a security clearance;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year of industry work experience
• Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
• Familiarity with Mechanical Design
• Familiarity with SolidWorks
• Willing to travel domestically approx.10% of time.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government.
• U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Generate CAD designs and drawings using SolidWorks
• Work with machine shop on manufacturability of designs
• Perform structural analysis using ANSYS
• Support senior engineers in completing more complex tasks
• Support the built and test of prototype design
• Create reports and presentations in Word or PowerPoint to share within and outside xLab
• Responsible for assigned project completion and delivery to customer
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
• Training and mentorship will be provided
